In Abruzzo, my absolute “must visit” places was Ai 4 SentieriThis family run restaurant is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. "’To the four paths’" was born from the desire to create a small welcoming place where you can consume traditional dishes surrounded by uncontaminated nature and prepared every day with passion by us who are deeply linked to this land.” I had lunch there after a long hike to Hermitage of San Bartolomeo and the food was superb. Gnocchi in a cream truffle sauce, rabbit cacciatore (my favorite) and polpete, cheese dumplings. We ended our meal with coffee-chocolate chip cookies and tea.
I wrote this Yelp review in August 2022 and the food is even better now. “I have been staying in Majella National Park for three weeks and I've eaten at this restaurant five times in the last 10 days! This meal at Ai 4 Sentieri was so beautiful I cried. Fresh sheep's milk ricotta drizzled with olive oil and pepper, fig pizza and prosciutto! This is the same restaurant where I had the rabbit cacciatore last week. Mama Mia!! It was incredible!! Every time I've been, there's some new delight! One evening it was figs marinated in wine, another night it was pickled fresh vegetables. You HAVE to try the fig pizza (seasonal) Family run, efficient and friendly service, beautiful area. Children welcomed!! Locals love this place. Music and entertainment some nights. I highly recommend this place!!!”
