Welcome to Scotland
10/17/25
i’m here on my first house sit in the little county of Angus caring for two lovely Golden Retrievers. The home is a little stoned cottage with lots of light surrounded by fields near a quarry. I’m tucked in with a cup of tea under blankets, while wearing my long johns and a hat cause this house is chilly. Streaming apps aren’t working so I’m all set for an evening of watching Haggis Hunters as they gear up for the World Haggis Championship, special entry, chicken and bacon pie wrapped in haggis. Just. No.
The food here tastes different than back home in the states. I don’t usually eat chicken there. I got a British raised chicken and it tasted completely different. The well water is cold, thirst quenching, and doesn’t have chlorine in it. The sausages are delicious. I do need to switch to buying in season local fruit because I didn’t check and the blueberries I got were from Zimbabwe. I guess I’ll have to switch from wine to whiskey too. I feel so much healthier when I’m not in the states. I’ve had many expat women tell me that their depression, anxiety, anger and eating issues all disappeared when they moved overseas. One reason I like England and Scotland is because pedestrians have the right way to walk anywhere they’d like so I walk for hours to fields and orchards. I’ve only been here a week and already I’m losing weight because I’m not drinking wine, smoking weed or eating edibles to deal with US stress and then getting the munchies and attacking the fridge. See what happens when you take a break from your responsibilities?! I chuckle since I was trying to think of a new domain name from my blog and decided that JuJu runs away.com was too extreme.
